Apple and iTunes a complete dissapointment.

a letter to apple:
"I find myself constantly trying to backup my media without the help of itunes as it only backs up my media purchased from itunes when I have had music on my computers and devices from several years back. I have been successful in keeping most of my media since by alluding the pop-ups itunes states that it will erase my music on my ipod/iphone device if i sync in the wrong way (ie manually manage music should be checked). This time i was not so fortunate and attempted to backup RINGTONES with the same prompt pop up except the prompt states something along the lines of me syncing my ringtones to my computer otherwise they will be deleted from my iphone. this all did not make any sense to me and it seemed I was going to lose my ringtones if i did not agree so i clicked to accept the transfer. In the blink of an eye all my media from years back was deleted permanently which i do not consider ringtones. I was furious to only find 18 of my songs from itunes. Luckily i have all the songs i want on either this computer or an old computer back home, or an ipod i recently gave to a good friend (if he did not delete my music off yet). Clearly i could just repurchase all of this media directly off of itunes so the problem doesn't persist--99 cents a song, 670 songs, the total cost of this predicament is 670 dollars with tax i'm sure. Also the hassle of reorganizing my media is quite time consuming. Itunes has been a major dissapointment since i have become a customer to apple and i find myself using it less and less except to update which i've been trying to prepare my iphone for 3.0 by using other products to backup my music. now i have none. If moving to another product of choice just to dodge itunes and its great ability to erase data in a split second is all i have to do, i'll attempt to do so in the near future unless reimbursed for my inconvenience. Also I just purchased the iphone 3G and shortly after my 30 day trial period with AT&T, 3GS was announced... not too big of a dissapointment however i payed the price of a 16G iphone when i now only own an 8G. If i were to want a satisfied customer i really would announce crucial updates and price-cuts well from secrecy. The iphone is by far the best product on the market, it's ashame the company name "Apple" has to come with it and ruin it's reputation by restricting it's consumers to own iTunes to have any interaction with their device. Feedback is not necessary but is very welcome. However i would hope this post is at least viewed, if not expect it on the forums and blogs under unsatisfied customers."

Apple does a great job of promoting piracy with the use of iTunes. Is Stalin the head of Apple with all these restrictions and limitations? It's like owning my own communism except i don't get to be the communist of my own product.

the definition of jailbreaking is basically taking advantage of my product to its fullest capabilities software-wise. excuse me for modifying my own product apple.
